
The mission of the CBS Mens' club, as a congregational auxiliary, is to stimulate mens' fellowship,
involvement in the social and religious life of the congregation, and service to the community.

The Life of Jim Kruger:
December 16.
One of our early programing events was to get to know the various members of the congregation and the club. To faciltiate this several of our members have told their life stories. This month, our Congregation President Jim Kruger will provide us peak into his history. Come out and join your fellow congregants and get to know another key person at our congregation.

Monthly Bagel Nosh:
The men's club held a free monthly breakfast that was open to the entire congregation. It was held immediately prceeding services. This event was sparsely attended indicating a lack of congregational interest and thus has been suspended. |

First Annual Congregational Picnic
The Mens Club sponsored the first annual Congregation Beth Shalohm picnic. This was very well attended and promoted a wonderful interchange between members, and we had some great food. Look for this event again next summer. |

Monthly meeting - Darwinism vs. Creationism – July 8, 2008
Wow, has this subject been the cause of controversy through history. We heard another slant on this much discussed and debated topic. Our presenter was André Ariew. He is an associate professor of philosophy at the University of Missouri. His primary interests are in the philosophy of science, in particular, in the nature of evolutionary theory. |

The End of the Ottoman Empire - The Cause of the Crisis in the Middle East
Renowned history Professor Sam Goodfellow from Westminster College spoke on this most interesting and important topic. Dr. Goodfellow is the author of "Between the Swastika and the Cross of Lorraine" and the director of Global Education at Westminster college. |

As part of its overall mission the club provided assistance during the High Holy days including construction of the Sukkah, and will continue as a community resource throughout the year. |
