Stella Read grew up in Chicago and moved to Columbia with her husband, Rory, in 2003, from San Diego where they raised their two sons. In San Diego, Stella was also on the board of Temple Adat Shalom. Stella is a school counselor for Columbia Public Schools, which she enjoys very much. She attended the University of Illinois in Chicago and received her Master’s in Guidance and Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University also in Chicago.
Steve Weinstein is married to Mary. They have 3 grown children, all graduates of CBS, each having attended Hebrew and Sunday school through high school; in addition, they celebrated two bat mitzvahs, one bar mitzvah and one wedding! Steve has been on the Board for 17 or 18 years and served as treasurer or co-treasurer for the whole time. Currently Steve is serving as treasurer and also trying to revive the fundraising committee. Steve has been a faculty member at the UMC School of Medicine in the Urology department for 27 years.
Barbara Haines serves on the fundraising committee and is co-president of Sisterhood. Barbara & husband Bob have lived in Columbia since 1982. Their 2 daughters, Michelle & Amy and their husbands still reside here along with their grandson, Eric. Barbara has served on various committees throughout the years and is a past president of Hadassah. She has been a partner at Embroider It for the past 12 years.
Wendy Sims is a Professor of Music Education at the University of Missouri. She specializes in early childhood and elementary music education, and conducts an active research program. She is the mother of a middle-school daughter, and she has served for many years on the CBS religious school committee.
Randee Shenkel and her husband, Steve Fogel, and daughter Bailey moved to Columbia in 2006. Randee is Chair of the Membership Committee and is a Clinical Psychologist with the Center for Family and Individual Counseling. Their family has been active in other congregations in Missouri as well as in Michigan and Georgia.
Joel Shenker is a neurologist, psychologist, and public speaker. He grew up in Portland, Oregon. After a Ph.D. in psychology and an M.D. at the University of Illinois, he trained in neurology at the University of Virginia and in cognition and dementia at the University of Florida. He was on faculty in neurology at the University of Virginia when he and his wife Debbie came to Columbia in 2005 with their children Rachel and Ben. After moving here, their daughter Mandy and her husband Dave moved to town with their kids, Maddie and Stewie. The multi-generation Shenker clan are frequent attendees at Shabbat and religious services at CBS. Joel was elected to the CBS Board in 2009.

Becky Rouder (aka, Rebecca Martinez) is an Assistant Professor in Women's and Gender Studies, has been teaching at MU since 2001 in the Department of Psychological Sciences. Her research interests include medical anthropology, Mexican immigration to the U.S., and Chicana feminist studies. Becky converted to Judaism here at CBS with Rabbi Feintuch, which was a rewarding experience. She and her husband have three children; Ben, 11; Tomas, 9; and Emily 7, all of whom attend religious school at CBS.

Shari Weinman Crespy is a mom and a Litigation Attorney with Shelter Insurance Companies. Originally from St. Louis, she received her undergraduate and law degrees at the University. Shari worked as a lawyer in Kansas City for 11 years before returning to Columbia in 2002 after meeting husband David on Jdate.com. In college she was president of the now defunct Alpha Beta chapter of Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority. In Kansas City, Shari served on the Board of Directors for the Jewish Community Relations Bureau and as a member the Young Leadership Cabinet for the Kansas City Jewish Federation/UJC. She went on a UJC sponsored mission to Israel in 1998. Shari has served CBS as a member of the religious practices committee. She is also a Master Gardener through the Boone County Extension Service. Shari's husband David is Associate Professor of Theater at the University. Sons Jules, 15; Emmett, 12; Jonathan, 3; and dog Lucy keep the Crespy family hopping.
Peter Kallmann has lived life on two continents, and has retired with his wife Anita to Columbia to be close to their daughter and her family. Peter was raised in Africa, and worked in the banking and trucking industries in Rhodesia/Zambia. After leaving Africa his family spent 12 years in Cincinnati, where he was part of a large international supplier of linens to the healthcare and hospitality markets. Eventually, he became an independant manufacturer respresentative to the healthcare industry. In addition to their daughter Deborah, they are the parents of a son Collin who lives in San Diego, where they enjoy visiting frequently.
